I grew up in a small town in Ohio --and used to drive my mother crazy when I played my Coltrane (and later Ayler) records on my stereo --I wound up getting a gig at a college radio station (WCSB) and there i interviewed Don Ayler who convinced me to do the book As I had a day job at the CSU Library I used to Music Index --and subsequently the interlibrary loan services to order books and article that I needed to write the book, and translated the German material myself, or used google. The development of the internet increased substantially my list of contacts, and I am extremely grateful to critics who encouraged me. I also used to post my rejection notices to my facebook page, as I always knew the book would be published. IT also gave me a bit of an excuse to bow out of legal cases that I felt would backfire on me ANyway I would give my manuscript to musicians who would come to Cleveland to tour. (you will see the photo of me giving a copy to Tom Verlaine at the Beachland)
