Richard P. Thompson

Richard P. Thompson has taught at Christian universities for thirty years. He most recently was Professor of New Testament, Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion, and Director of the Graduate School of Theology in the College of Theology and Christian Ministries at Northwest Nazarene University, located in Nampa, ID (2007-2024). He continues to teach online at NNU during retirement. He previously served on the faculties of Spring Arbor University (Spring Arbor, MI) and Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, IL). In addition to writing or editing nine books, he has contributed a number of articles in scholarly journals and essays in book collections. He was also a contributor to the Wesley Study Bible and a lead translator in the Common English Bible. In his spare time, he munches what he describes as “brain food” (M&M’s) and cheers on his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.
