Richard Smyth

Richard Smyth is an author and critic. His acclaimed non-fiction book An Indifference of Birds was published by Uniformbooks in 2020, and his novel The Woodcock was published by Fairlight in 2021. His newest book, The Jay, The Beech And The Limpetshell: Finding Wild Things With My Kids, explores nature, childhood and parenthood, and will be published by Icon in March 2023. His writing has appeared in the New Statesman, Prospect, Aeon, The TLS, The Literary Review and The Guardian, among others. He lives in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
