Richard Swan was born in South Africa, schooled in Ireland and studied music at Goldsmiths, University of London. He has worked as a choir-director, educator, author, bandleader and composer ever since. He has had music commissioned by Hampton Court Palace and has collaborated with Annie Lennox. He is the founder of London City Voices, a huge non-audition pop choir in London, and composes in styles ranging from film music to drum ’n’ bass. He has directed choirs at the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, Hackney Empire and Troxy. His passion is making music accessible for everyone, and he regularly runs workshops to get people singing together in harmony, regardless of previous experience. He runs piano singalongs at festivals around the UK and at venues in London, and has a repertoire of hundreds of songs.
