Rob Weston is a prolific British movie producer, screenwriter and author living in Los Angeles, California. Mentored by former 20th Century Fox, Managing Director, Tim Hampton (ALIENS), Weston developed his first movie property in 2006. Entitled ‘WHERE LOVE REIGNS’, the project attached a wealth of talent including, Martin Scorsese (THE IRISHMAN), multiple Oscar winner Jack Cardiff (AFRICAN QUEEN), Golden Globe nominee Michael Nyman (THE PIANO) and a cast which included the likes of Golden Globe winner Alan Rickman (DIE HARD) and Oscar nominee Armin Mueller Stahl (SHINE). Weston has since gone onto produce multiple independent movies with budgets combined of more than $70m. He produced and wrote the story for festival favorite GNAW (2008), then produced the sequel to hit horror movie THE ZOMBIE DIARIES (2011), with Dimension Films, which Fangoria hailed as ‘the best horror movie of the year’. Simultaneously, Weston, produced the thriller DON’T LET HIM IN (2011), which when released by Image Entertainment went onto become one of their top-performing titles of the year. Then came THE THOMPSONS (2012), the sequel to hit horror movie THE HAMILTONS for Lionsgate, which played festivals around the world. Total Film called it ‘Twilight meets Tarantino’. Weston then made the Spanish Language thriller, DIE AGAIN (AKA WAKE UP AND DIE) (2012). In 2013, Weston partnered with Rio Negro (GLORIA) to remake the Latin American classic ELSA AND FRED, alongside Oscar-winning producer Ed Saxon (SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) and Oscar-nominated director Michael Radford (IL POSTINO). The cast included Oscar winners Christopher Plummer (BEGINNERS), Shirley Maclaine (TERMS OF ENDEARMENT) and Marcia Gay Harden (MYSTIC RIVER). Millennium Entertainment released the film after an award-winning festival run. Weston simultaneously produced the Sienna Guillory (RESIDENT EVIL) thriller THE LIST for Palm D’or nominated, director Klaus Huttman and sci-fi extravaganza THE LAST SCOUT for Epic Pictures. Weston then went on to adapt the award-winning novel, DARK PLACES (2015), from best selling author Gillian Flynn (GONE GIRL). The movie would star Oscar winner Charlize Theron (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD) alongside Chloe Moretz (CARRIE), Nicholas Hoult (JACK THE GIANT SLAYER) and Emmy nominee Christina Hendricks (MAD MEN). The movie was named on Indiewire’s list of the ‘100 Most Anticipated Films of 2015’ and went onto break records for DirectTV upon its release, before A24’s theatrical run. Weston then produced the Natasha Lyonne (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) starring ANTIBIRTH. The movie premiered at Sundance in 2016 and also starred Chloe Sevigny (AMERICAN HORROR STORY) and Oscar nominee Meg Tilly (AGNES OF GOD). In 2018, Weston produced the action, war thriller REDCON-1, directed by Chee Keong Cheung (BODYGUARD: A NEW BEGINNING) and also produced by Kevin Eastman (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES). In 2019, Weston produced Jason Mewes (JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK) directorial debut MADNESS IN THE METHOD starring Mewes and Kevin Smith (JAY AND SILENT BOB), as well as a host of other stars including Gina Carano (MANDALORIAN), Jaime Camil (JANE THE VIRGIN), David Dastmalchian (ANTMAN) and Vinnie Jones (X MEN). MADNESS IN THE METHOD also featured the last ever cameo on-screen of the iconic Stan Lee (MARVEL). Weston’s first book ROB WESTON’S GUIDE TO METHOD ACTING was heavily featured in the movie and has since gone onto be voted amongst the ‘BEST ACTING BOOKS OF ALL TIME’ by Book Authority. In 2020, Weston wrote and produced the crime drama CRIMSON POINT, starring the legendary C Thomas Howell (ET) and Aleks Paunovic (SNOWPIERCER). In 2021, Weston will produce the crime drama, COLD PROVIDENCE starring Karl Urban (THE BOYS) and Malin Akerman (BILLIONS). The film will be directed by Bill Jones and Ben Timlett (MONTY PYTHON). Renowned in worldwide circles, Weston is an expert in film financing, structuring co-productions and developing and writing high-quality projects, from initial concept through to delivery and has positioned himself as a 'go-to' for the most exciting projects in development today. He is also a regular speaker on panels and conferences and a mentor to students around the world.
