Robert B. Alexander grew up in the East Central part of South Mississippi, an area that is rich in history and storytelling. In between chasing ‘crawdads’ for fish bait and playing little league baseball, he loved the outdoors and exploring the surrounding woods and trails. He was always intrigued by the stories and legends of the lives of the generations before him. Having lived through the turbulent years of the Civil Rights Movement in the Deep South and the integration of public schools, he always sought to understand the feelings and experiences of both sides. One of Robert's hobbies is traveling and learning the various stories about local events--stories that are unnoticed by the majority of tourists. In these stories, he believes we find the fabric of the local society. Like pulling back a window curtain to see who is in the yard, when we learn local folklore and legends, we get a glimpse into the DNA of the community. At an early age Robert gained an appreciation for literature, especially historically based short stories, and cultural legends. He believes that history and historical fiction are not just stories but part of our story. With the influence of the storytelling styles of Southern authors running through his veins, his love for making a story come alive to the reader is the desire of all of his writings. Robert is working on other books that relate to the region of East Central Mississippi and the surrounding areas. Be sure to look for them in print and on Kindle.
