Born in Biddeford, ME and grew up in New England. I was the first in my family to graduate college (4 year scholarship) which was the Lowell Technological Institute (L.T.I.) and the degree in 1958 was a BS in Textile Engineering which was basically mechanical engineering, and was very industry oriented. L.T.I. was one of several colleges unified into what is now UMass-Lowell. The geographical area at the time was the heart of the electronics industry. Early on I worked at Sanders Associates in Nashua, NH (employee #75) and Raytheon and was hired by Raytheon in Maynard, MA where based on my work and management's recommendations I was awarded a year of graduate work at Harvard in Engineering Physics. I worked in the Federal Systems Division in IBM on OAO, Gemini, Saturn V LVDC/LVDA, and the MOL before transferring to commercial divisions. After retiring I worked for Motorola in the Semiconductor Division. I retired from both companies as Technical Staff Member.
