Robert Icenhauer-Ramirez was born in Hebbronville, Texas, a small ranching community in South Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University and then from the University of Texas School of Law. He practices law in Austin, Texas. His passion, however, has always been history. In 2009, he earned a Master's Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2014, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. His area of focus is the American Civil War, but he has a keen interest in the American Revolution, the founding of the United States, and the politics of the decades leading up to the Civil War. He has been a lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin History Department for several years. He teaches a course on the American Civil War and has taught, as well, a class on the American Revolutionary War and another on the Founding of the Nation. He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, Jennifer Poppe.
