Werner has published two books on Bolivia: "Bolivia in Focus" (Northampton, MA: Interlink Books, 2009), which is a broad A-to-Z account in 100 pages of the land, history, economy, society, culture, and religion; and "Travels on the Road of Death and Other Adventures of a Yankee in Bolivia" (Amazon Kindle e-book, 2015), which uses the genre of travel narrative to explore important themes about Bolivia, in 215 pages. Read the second one if you want a personal encounter that uses the voices and history of Bolivia to find important themes that explain the character of the place.
