I am a retired Lecturer in Engineering from the University of Portland School of Engineering. I taught introductory classes in computer uses in ABET-accredited Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. This basically revolved around the use of UNIX on platforms ranging from mini-computers like the Vax-750, Sun SPARCstations, and IBM networked desktops. In my time at UP, we had a very developed network dedicated to engineering use, with a very wide selection of engineering applications across the three disciplines, including Computer Science. I spend most of my time now writing UNIX and Linux textbooks, and enjoy being with my family. My hobbies are reading literature, woodworking, and playing/recording music.
