Dr. Robert Niebuhr earned his PhD at Boston College, after completing his BA and MA degrees from Arizona State University. An historian of modern Central and Eastern Europe, Niebuhr has spent several years living and studying abroad, including a year in Croatia on a Fulbright research fellowship. Niebuhr has taught history at Boston College, Simmons College, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Universidad NUR (Santa Cruz, Bolivia); in addition, he taught Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian (BCS) at Harvard University, using the textbooks for sale on this site. Niebuhr has numerous academic articles and book reviews on modern European history and international relations. Furthermore, the travel guide to Croatia, and the two beginner-language books on Croatian and Serbian benefit from his extensive experience in former Yugoslavia. The next book out soon is a _Beginner's Guide to American English: Spanish Edition_, published by Trebarwyth Press and approved by Universidad Catolica Boliviana "San Pablo" (Santa Cruz, Bolivia). He is also happy to announce a forthcoming monograph on the history of Communist Yugoslavia. In addition to recent publishing activity, Niebuhr is involved with test preparation programs and has worked for some time on perfecting methods to teach and master the TOEFL iBT test. For more information on that endeavor, you are encouraged to visit http://toeflmaster.com, which goes in-depth to teach the rules and procedures to mastering this intimidating test. He is also editor of a TOEFL tutoring text, entitled, _The TOEFL Master's Guide to a Perfect Score_. That book is now on Amazon! While the language books for sale here took shape thanks in part to my experience as a non-native BCS learner, the travel guide to Croatia came about thanks to a great partnership with Bernd Scherak, of Graz, Austria. Bernd and I both studied at the University of Zagreb together and have each traveled throughout Croatia since 2003. Having spent time in small hostels, resort hotels, private apartments and clocking almost 15,000 miles across the Croatian countryside we know Croatia! What makes our travel book different is that it focuses a lot on food and helps out with basic communication skills. Learning a language as hard as BCS takes time, but this book gives you the basics that can help when ordering food and finding your way. Pronunciation guides and an extended list of food and drink helps you explore not only the beautiful landscape but also the rich culture of Croatia!
