Robert Watchman has been a leading secondary school teacher in mathematics for over twenty years. Although he has taught from grade 7 through to grade 12, he has found that directing his attention to the needs of juniors makes the senior students more capable. Very often the fundamentals of mathematics aren’t understood well. This leads to a lack of understanding and hence a lack of interest in the work especially at higher levels. Having had considerable success in simplifying concepts which students find difficult, Robert Watchman created the Easy Steps Math series, which is a compilation of notes he gives in class for students to take home and follow. Where most teachers tend to give question after question for students to complete, Robert tends to spend more time explaining the concepts at a more fundamental level. Using these notes to complete questions gives the students confidence in their abilities and soon enough they don’t need the notes because they have learned their work well.
