Ron Smith

Greetings everyone! I am a recently retired special education English teacher as of May 2024. I have a bachelor’s degree in human relations & organizations along with a Certificate of Peace Studies from the University of Hawaii. I continue to joyfully serve our community as a volunteer mediator at Maui Mediation Services. “Uprooted” is the first book I have attempted and had published. I began writing it three years ago during summer break. The words came so quickly I could barely type fast enough! Initially, I had no intention of publishing. I simply relished the catharsis that came from writing it. But once I completed it, I felt compelled to make my journey available to the world. I hope that there is something in my writing that will speak to some facet of the human condition, and that those who complete the book will walk away from it with greater determination to be unapologetically true to themselves, and with renewed courage to pursue their dreams and realize their destiny without fear of judgment, while also enjoying their journey along the way.
