The older I get, the more passionate I am about longevity. I want to live long enough to feel the joy of watching my great grandchildren grow just as I love watching my grandchildren. We can choose to improve our chances of staying physically and mentally healthy for longer. But it’s got to be easy. Another guiding principle is making our lives more fun. Yes it’s fun to take expensive holidays or indulge in expensive hobbies. But fun and happiness hide out in the smallest of places too. My first step into sharing my efforts with the world is my book 'Go Walking'. After a serious illness, I needed to tempt myself into more exercise. My book shares my ideas on making walks so much fun that even reluctant walkers will want to go walking. And it’s an exercise that is just about as inexpensive as can be. Easy, fun and inexpensive - it ticks the boxes for most of us, even the reluctant. I'm also working on other ideas on how to live longer to appear in future books. When I'm not doing all that, I'm exchanging dreadful puns on our family whatsapp group and learning languages. My husband and I do yoga as well as go walking. We love sailing, which lifts my soul. Meeting up in mountain resorts for skiing with children and grandchildren followed by a nice hot chocolate and some lemon meringue pie will hopefully form part of our travelling plans.
