Ryan D. Foster, PhD, LPC- S, CHST, is associate professor of counseling and interim department head at Tarleton State University in Fort Worth, Texas and has been a counselor educator since 2010. He is also director of the Humanistic Sandtray Therapy Institute in Fort Worth, where he trains mental health practitioners in humanistic sandtray therapy that can lead to the Certified Humanistic Sandtray Therapist (CHST) credential. In addition, he is an active private practice counselor. Dr. Foster has published more than 20 articles and chapters in the fields of sandtray therapy and transpersonal experiences, particularly near-death experiences, in counseling, as well as an edited book on spiritual practices in counseling. He is the author of the Humanistic Sandtray Therapy Treatment Manual and has served on the editorial boards of Counseling and Values and the World Journal for Sand Therapy Practice. His most recent publication is Humanistic Sandtray Therapy: The Definitive Guide to Philosophy, Therapeutic Conditions, and the Real Relationship.
