Ryan Van is a North American author and artist from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, U.S.A. He’s spent a lifetime as a writer, musician and journalist. After bidding goodbye to the 1980’s with a high school degree in Upstate New York, Van headed West to study newspaper journalism and English at Northern Arizona University. In the mid-1990’s, Van began his journalism career as a reporter at The Provo Daily Herald in Provo, Utah. During a decade-long career as a reporter, photographer and editor, Van was published in The Daily Sun, The Peninsula Gateway, The Puyallup Herald, The Sedona Red Rock News, The Cottonwood Journal, The Camp Verde Journal, among others. Leaving news in 2006 to become a full time musician, Van quickly found himself on the touring circuit, opening concerts for greats like Grammy Award winning musician Micki Free. In this time, Van wrote, recorded and produced several acclaimed albums both solo and with his side project vangore. Van now spends his days as a handyman and a writer deep rooted in his vast experiences on the front lines of media culture and in the back rooms of musicians and artists. He weaves these experiences into his poetry, novels, songs and spoken word performances.
