Communicating the little-understood PDA (pathological demand avoidance) neurotype in a visual way. Sally Cat is an adult PDA author, illustrator, animator and public speaker. As a visual thinker and trained person-centred counsellor, she communicates the inner experience of the PDA neurotype via creative, graphic memes. Her Facebook page, Sally Cat's PDA page, has over 12,000 followers, including fellow adult PDAers, parents and professionals. Feedback across the board (from professionals to adults querying their neurology) has been that her memes have communicated what dense written documents cannot. 'Pathological Demand Avoidance Explained' is a collection of 75 of these memes adapted for e-book and paperback format. 'PDA by PDAers', published by JKP in 2018, is the first book about adult PDA. Illustrated throughout, the transcript takes the form of discussion carried out by over 70 adult PDAers. Sally chose this round table format to reflect the unconventional, non-hierarchical nature of the PDA neurotype.
