Sally Wern Comport began her illustration career at the age of 15, drawing ads for the newspaper for her dad's advertising agency. Since then, she has become known for her bright and bold illustrated children's picture books, earning such honors as the Society of Illustrators Gold Medal, the Christopher Award, the Américas Award for Children's & Young Adult Literature, the Flora Stieglitz Straus Award, and Best Children's Book of the Year from Bank Street College, among other awards. Some notable publishing projects include the forthcoming "Hiding in Plain Sight: Kate Warne and the Race to Save Abraham Lincoln," the "Zora & Me" series, "Ada's Violin," "30,000 Stitches," "Dream March," "Wonder Women of Science," "Nile Crossing," and "Love Will See You Through: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Six Guiding Beliefs." Sally is represented by Shannon Associates in New York City, and lives in Annapolis, Maryland. She is Principal Owner of Art at Large, Inc., an experiential graphics studio specializing in custom large-scale public art and design.
