I am based at the British Library, where I am the Head of the Endangered Archives Programme. Before this I worked on the International Dunhuang Project, carrying out cataloguing and research on the Tibetan collections from Chinese Central Asia. My research has looked at the contemplative tradition of the Great Perfection, the tantric ritual system and its social contexts, the early history of Tibet, and the development of Tibetan writing and printing. I have also published on Zen Buddhism. My most recent work has been on Buddhist magic, which is the subject of a book to be published in July 2020.
