Samir Varma

Samir Varma is a physicist, entrepreneur, and inventor who has always been fascinated by the implications of deterministic physics. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 1988, where he was elected to the national engineering honors society, Tau Beta Pi. He earned his PhD in theoretical particle physics from UT Austin in 1993. The renowned physicist E.C.G. Sudarshan was his advisor, and Nobel Laureate, Steven Weinberg, was on his dissertation committee. Due to the sad cancellation of the Superconducting Supercollider, Samir decided to become an entrepreneur. In 2001, he founded VS Asset Management, a hedge fund manager. After 13 years of research, in 2016, VS Asset created, and is successfully trading, a unique investment methodology called Risk Timing®. He later co-founded Palm Energy Systems, which is revolutionizing solar energy technology with aesthetically appealing, functional designs. As Chairman and Chief Scientist at Applango Systems until 2022, Samir pioneered AI algorithms that significantly enhanced efficiency for call centers and telecom companies. An inventor at heart, Samir holds multiple patents, including innovations in AI, traffic optimization algorithms, automation software, finance, advertising, and medicine. He has also published research in particle physics and chaotic fluid dynamics. Samir is currently working on his second book about economics, finance, and politics. In his spare time, he likes to play squash and guitar, although because of his back, he can no longer play golf. For computationally irreducible reasons, he has a particular fondness for detective and spy stories, and is obsessed with the music of The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
