Sandra Dieckmann is an illustrator, author and maker. Her art and stories are deeply inspired by all that's weird and wonderful in nature, drifting thoughts and dreams. She is best known for her colourful and patterned, often intricate renderings and works in a multitude of media from pencil and paint to digital. A lot of her self initiated work is sold online in her busy Etsy shop. Sandra's work has been applied to a wide selection of international commissions and projects including licensing, editorial, book illustration and much more. She was born in the north of Germany and spent nearly twenty years enjoying life in East London before running for the hills, and moving, with her family, to the beautiful English Peak District in 2020. Her first book as author and illustrator LEAF was published by Flying Eye Books in June 2017. In 2018 it was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal, long listed for the Klaus Flugge Prize and short listed for the Waterstones Children's book prize as well as the AOI World Illustration Award. Her second picture book The Dog That Ate The World was published in July 2018 by Flying Eye Books and it was nominated for the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award 2019 and won the Teach Early Years award in the Picture Book category. Her third picture book as author and illustrator Waiting For Wolf was published by Hachette Children’s Books in September 2019 and was part of the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal Nominated Titles 2021. After taking a break to have her baby daughter Ronja, Sandra's non fiction book 'The Secret Forest' was published by Scholastic in September 2021 and will soon be followed by her next picture book The Magic Feather September 2022 with Hachette. www.sandradieckmann.com | @sandradieckmann
