Sara Moslener has been studying evangelical purity culture for 15 years and has published numerous articles on the topic. Her first book, Virgin Nation: Sexual Purity and American Adolescence traces purity work and rhetoric from the 19th century to the present demonstrating how the concept of sexual purity has allowed white evangelicals to maintain political power and social influence. Her next book, After Purity: How White Christian Nationalism Exploits Race, Sex, and Religion uses interviews with 65 people people who've grown up and out of evangelical purity culture to explain how this movement has informed the racial formation of white womanhood.
