Sarah Nelson is the author of books for young children, including Firefly Galaxy, Follow the Flyway: The Marvel of Bird Migration, and Birth of the Bicycle: A Bumpy History of the Bicycle in America, which is a 2024 Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection. Sarah's lyrical picture books explore both fiction and nonfiction themes. She especially loves writing about nature, the little (oh, so real) dramas of childhood, and inspiring, lesser-known moments in history. When not writing, Sarah teaches English to adult immigrants and refugees and loves walking the parks and trails near her Minnesota home, looking for new story ideas. Sarah holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and is a longtime member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She is represented by Marietta B. Zacker of the Gallt and Zacker Literary Agency.
