Scott Bergstein

Scott Bergstein was trained as an attorney and abused as a commercial real estate professional for nearly 30 years before retiring with his wife to a little olive farm in Puglia, the “heel” of the boot that is Italy. Beset by the challenges the couple faced in the attempt to make their dream of la dolce vita come true, Scott could not help but to write about their experiences, an exercise that became a blog he named “Soul of the Heel.” The reactions of readers of the blog encouraged Scott to write a book version of the story. Prior to the blog and memoir, Scott wrote a full-length screenplay called “Profile of Giorgio’s Killer,“ a work of creative non-fiction. He has also published a novel titled “Mis(s)pellings: A Magical Comedy.” Scott’s wife Jessica is a professional photographer and yoga teacher. The couple lives in the town of Ubud on the island of Bali.
