关于作者

I'm a scientist-practitioner. What does that mean? It means I conduct applied research (science) and provide evidence-based advice to work teams and organizations (practice). And I write about it, including the book Teams That Work, which helps leaders and team members apply the science of teamwork. I founded and lead The Group for Organizational Effectiveness (www.groupOE.com), a boutique consulting firm that has provided guidance to over 600 organizations globally. At gOE, I’ve supported all sorts of corporate teams, from the boardroom to the manufacturing floor, as well as cancer care teams, oil rig crews, deep sea dive teams, military teams, cruise ships, and even NASA aerospace crews. I try to “get around.” Some of you may know me as one of the people behind gOEbase, an organizational development toolkit used by thousands of practitioners across the world. My work has been published in over 30 psychology, business, and medical journals and cited over 20,000 times. I was a business school professor, where I received a few nice awards and was granted tenure (a big deal to professors!) before giving up tenure to focus on my work outside academia. I am a proud Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychologist. We explore the psychology of people at work – a fascinating and complex topic. Two prestigious societies, the Society for Industrial/ Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS) named me a Fellow, and SIOP honored me with its Distinguished Professional Contributions Award. On a personal note…I split my time between Albany NY and Manhattan. Although I am a New Yorker through and through, I have been a die-hard Red Sox fan my entire life. That explains a lot about me. I am married to an awesome wife. We’ve worked and lived together for 30+ years, yet somehow, we still really like each other! Now that’s teamwork.
