Scott Teal (1953-), the owner of Crowbar Press, grew up in Florida and has been writing about pro wrestling since 1972. His first publishing effort was a wrestling newsletter called "The Tampa Scene," which he later renamed "Florida Fan Fare." In 1974, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to attend Trevecca Nazarene College, and shortly thereafter, Nick Gulas, the wrestling promoter, recruited him to work for Gulas-Welch Wrestling, Inc. Scott produced and published the weekly "Slam-O-Gram" programs in Nashville, Chattanooga, Huntsville and Bowling Green, and did the photo publicity work. In 2008, he was the first recipient of the James C. Melby Historian Award at the Cauliflower Alley Club reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in 2011, he was the recipient of the James C. Melby Award for professional wrestling journalism from the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Hall of Fame at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa. He has 56 books to his credit and is currently working on additional volumes of his "Wrestling Archive Project" and "Great Venues of Wrestling" series of books.
