Scott Witt

Scott grew up in Augusta and Savannah, Georgia, as the eldest of eight siblings. Following his graduation from A.E. Beach High School in Savannah, he joined the U.S. Navy. During his service, he completed two years of training to become a Nuclear Machinist Mate. He spent the next four years stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, aboard the USS San Francisco (SSN-711), a fast attack submarine. After six years of Navy service, Scott returned to Savannah and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Savannah State University. He dedicated the next 16 years to teaching in several Title I schools, focusing on education in underserved communities. Since January 2021, Scott has been living in Sicily, where he teaches middle school science on a U.S./NATO base. He has been happily married to his wife, Hiromi, for 23 years, and they have two sons, Masami and Hiroki.
