Sean Patrick Brennan is a former monk, Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol Deputy, and proud LGBTQ+ volunteer. He and his partner Andy live in Malverne, New York. Born and raised in Rockville Centre, New York, in the same home previously owned by Anne Meara's family (Ben Stiller's mom!), Sean was an altar boy and later a bishop's server in nearby Saint Agnes Cathedral. It was there in 1986 that he heard Mother Teresa speak about vocations. Whether it was on this day or another that started him thinking, Sean was sure of one thing: he wanted his life to be about something bigger than himself. In 1993, just days after graduating high school, he joined the religious life, and served as Brother Sean for the next four years. Shortly after graduating cum laude from Manhattan College in 1997, Sean left the monastery he'd called home and started telling friends and family members he'd like to try writing next. "That's great," one family member told him, "but what are you going to do about money?" Time passed, life passed, and 9/11 happened. In December of 2001, he met his partner Andy. More time passed, more life passed, and Sean still had a nagging feeling that his writing was meant to go much further. In 2003, he began work on a book, his first attempt at something longer than the short stories and poems he'd worked on previously. Ten more years would pass before he finally got that book together for publication in 2013. Sean's second novel was out a year later, and his third, the culmination of his religious fiction series, a year after that. In November of 2015, his fourth book, Finishing Forty, was published. Outside In, Sean's fifth book, was published in June of 2016. His sixth, The Angel's Guide to Taking Human Form, in 2018, his seventh, Tree House Down, in 2019, and his eighth, Moments to Spare, in 2024.
