Veterinarian, writer, and artist Shannon Fujimoto Nakaya figures she has about a hundred years to create a legacy that contributes to the goodness of the human species. Half-way along that journey, her body has slowed her down some, but she remains a slightly manic, slightly obsessive over-achiever. Her "living room" is more of an art studio and aviary. If you reach her on the phone, she'll likely need to step away from her desk in the adjacent "dining room" in order for you to hear her over the background of whistles, squawks, hoots, and barks. Being as most them are old and/or have special needs, and yet have enough equilibrium to engage and rejoice in life, she considers it all good. More at www.weekendswithalice.com
