Shannon Martin

Shannon is passionate about early childhood education and special education. Ironically, she grew up vowing that she would never be a teacher. She earned her B.A. in English from UC Irvine. After graduating from college, she began substitute teaching and unexpectedly fell in love with preschool special education. She earned an Early Childhood Special Education Credential and an M.A. in Special Education from CSU Dominguez Hills. With 28 years in early childhood education, including 25 years in preschool special education, she is dedicated to helping young learners thrive. Inspired by Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, Shannon created an animal book series to engage children in the reading experience. She is also the owner of Care2Teach Educational Resources, which provides early childhood learning materials. Born in Louisiana and raised in Long Beach, she now lives in Southern California with her two daughters. She loves family time and is actively involved in her church.
