A long time ago, Sharon was once a child herself. Now she writes stories for children that grow from small kernels of truth and explore common themes—fairness, transitions and the path to finding your own voice. Her middle grade novel CHASING AT THE SURFACE was the 2016 National Outdoor Book Award winner in the Children’s category. She is also the author of three children’s illustrated picture book biographies: THINK SMART, BE FEARLESS: a biography of the technology entrepreneur Bill Gates. An Amazon Editors’ Best Nonfiction Books for Children, 2019 THE HEART OF THE STORM: a biography basketball legend Sue Bird A FLASH OF COLOR AND LIGHT: a biography of innovative glass artist Dale Chihuly Her chapter book, B IN THE WORLD, about a gender non-conforming child, was selected by Seattle Public Schools for third graders in their K-5 Gender Kit. Sharon has an MFA in Writing and lives in Seattle, Washington.
