I'm Shaye Elliott - a farmer, wife, mother, blogger, and homecook. Six years ago, I started a blog that encompasses so many of the things that I desperately love – my bearded husband Stuart, our quiver of children, and life on the farm. We live on five acres in North Central Washington and on that land, we raise our dairy cow Sally Belle, a giant flock of laying hens, meat chickens, hogs, sheep, turkeys, and a variety of produce in our large, organic gardens. We farm to provide our family with as much homegrown food as possible – learning the ways of the land and the ways of the past. We preserve food, stock up the larder for winter, and are ever working towards growing more. The laundry hanging on the line may cause some to think we’re old fashioned. And maybe that’s true. But I’m okay with that. I wouldn’t trade this hard working farm life for anything in the world. Welcome to our homestead – I hope you stick around! There are peaches to be canned, cloth diapers to be washed, and always plenty of tasty dishes to enjoy.
