I love to write. There I said it. I also think it is important to have something to say when you do write, whether it is fiction or non-fiction. What's in it for the reader? It took a very long time for me to write a non-fiction book, "Profit Is Not a Four Letter Word." I wanted to make sure I had something to say beyond repeating what others have said. It also had to be easy and fun to read so I included real life experiences in industry and in-particular, manufacturing. It ended up hitting #1 on the Amazon best-seller list for non-fiction/quality. Fiction is more fun since you can play with the facts and the time-lines. I do try very hard to keep the search and rescue facts accurate. My first foray into writing was novels for teenagers. "Go Find" is written from the perspective of a first-generation Hispanic girl trying to balance cultural and economic issues and determine the path she wants her life to take. This is an Amazon Best-seller. “Turn” tells the story of a Boy Scout who is big for his age and overcomes bullying by a smaller boy with the help of a search and rescue dog team. This is an Amazon best seller. "Bark Alert" is about a teen a white supremist group tries to recruit and the repercussions he must overcomes with the support of members of a canine search and rescue team when he reports the group's plans. My clean romances (no heavy sex scenes) are: "Sophie's Search" is the story of a young widow on the brink of financial ruin who must decide if she will save her company or a special needs child lost in the woods. She can't do both. There is a strong Christian message as Sophie looks for more meaning to life than how much money she has in the bank. This is an Amazon best-seller. "Out of the Storm" is the story of a search for a retired soldier with PTSD who tries to hide in the Adirondack Mountains to protect his family from himself. The searchers must survive a monster snowstorm to find the soldier and bring him home. This is an Amazon best-seller. "Pine Cone Motel" is the story of two homeless people who take over and revitalize an abandoned motel in the Adirondack Mountains and find a future of hope and love. This is an Amazon international best-seller. In "Labrador Tea" a member of organized crime that tries to escape his criminal life only to put the lives of his girlfriend, adopted daughter, and a team of canine search and rescue handlers at risk. This is an Amazon international best-seller. In "Killer Run" a shy, young woman adopts a trained search and rescue dog, finds a body, and gets drawn into the world of canine search and rescue. She utilizes her search and rescue skills to escape a serial killer. Lektor led me into the work of IPO/Schutzhund which has introduced me to some wonderful people and allowed me to develop a variety of activities for the dogs in my stories. My current partner, Chet, has shown me that even as I get older, we can still be competitive. Search and rescue missions have been such a big part of my life for so long, I’m happy I was able to draw on some of my experiences for the books I write. After years of helping people with my dogs, I’m hoping these books offers a little help for others in some other ways. “Victory in Grace” has published an article on a specific search as well as several devotionals. “The Beacon” and “These Days” have also published my devotionals. "Spiritual Bread" is a collection of devotionals written by the critique group I belongs to. It is designed as a daily devotional reading for a year. It contains over 100 devotionals that I have written over the years. It is priced to cover Amazon's costs and not to provide a profit to anyone. Keep watching, I have more books getting ready for my readers to enjoy. ###
