Ever since SHERRI LYNN WOOD unwittingly defied the sexist dress code at Wiley Junior High School with a modest sundress of her own creation, she experienced sewing as a source of creative expression, subversive resistance, and personal empowerment. She has been making and improvising quilts as a creative life practice for 30+ years. An artist and maker based in Cincinnati OH, Sherri Lynn is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant for Painters and Sculptors, and numerous artist residencies, including Recology San Francisco, where she undertook the task of presenting a body of work made completely from materials scavenged from the city dump. In 2020 she founded BravePatch.School, an online community for makers focused on becoming better improvisers in patchwork and in life! You can study improvisational quilting with Sherri Lynn via livestream Zoom workshops hosted on SherriLynnWood.com.
