Silvano Donati

Silvano Donati has been Full Professor at University of Pavia since 1980 and Emeritus in 2015. He has authored 350+ papers and holds a dozen patents, and has two books, ‘Photodetectors’ (2nd ed.: IEEE Wiley 2021) and ‘Photonics Instrumentation’ (2nd ed.: CRC 2023). Has invented self-mixing interferometry and chaos-shift-keying cryptography. He was LEOS Distinguished Lecturer in 2007-09 and continued as a Traveling Lecturer of OSA and SPIE with a total 105 Chapters visited. He has received awards from the AEIT and IEEE: the Marconi medal, the Kressel Award and the IEEE Distinguished Service Award . He has spent semesters as Visiting Professor in several Universities of Taiwan: NTU 2005, Sun Yat Sen (2007, 2008, 2010), NCKU 2012, NCHU 2013-14, NTUT 2015-16 NTU 2018-19 and NTUST 2023. He is Life Fellow of the IEEE, Optica Emeritus Fellow and SPIE Life Member.
