Sītānātha, an independent researcher with a focus on Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇavism, Braj (Vṛndāvana) and the Vedic/Indian culture, was born in Switzerland in 1991, and grew up in a Christian family, in which religiosity was definitely present, but not over dominating. He is now married, has a son and lives in Kaunas, Lithuania. In 2016, he converted to Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavism. Prior to his family life, he spent several years as a monk in āśramas in Europe and, later, alongside his wife, lived for half a year in Vṛndāvana, India. He was always fond of books, but it was the bhakti-śāstras he truly fell in love. In his free time, he spends time with his family and reading. When asked what his favorite book is, Sītānātha would compare it to selecting from a box of chocolates - it's hard to choose. But most likely he would go for Śrīmad Bhāgavata, Caitanya Caritāmṛta, and in particular the books from Rūpa Goswami and Raghunātha das Goswami; Stavamālā, Rādhā Kṛṣṇa Gaṇoddeśa Dīpikā, Vilāpa Kusumāñjali, Vraja-vilāsa-stava (Stavāvalī), and Govinda-līlāmṛta from Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī.
