Spencer W. McBride, PhD, is Associate Managing Historian of the Joseph Smith Papers Project and the author of multiple books on religion and American politics. His writing about the evolving role of religion in American political culture has appeared in the Washington Post and the Deseret News. McBride is also the creator and host of The First Vision: A Joseph Smith Papers Podcast.
