Stefanie Hutcheson (1963-) grew up in Burnsville, North Carolina. Although it took her nearly nineteen years, Stefanie finally completed her BA at Mars Hill College in 1999. Prior to graduation, she spent several years as a wife and mother, raising her family in Mills River, NC, before moving to Lenoir, where she now resides. In 2019, a challenge was issued in the writing group she attends, Foothills Writers, to complete a finished work for publication. "The Adventures of George and Mabel: Based on an Almost (Kind of? Sort of? Could Be?) True Story" was created and is now available for your reading pleasure, along with two sequels. In 2021, Stefanie completed and published her novella "Left." Along with this, her writing group has published four anthologies, "Our Foothills," of stories that take place around the Foothills of North Carolina. The third book won the prestigious North Carolina Society of Historians Award of Excellence. A lover of poetry, she has been published in "Branches" (a local anthology that CCC&TI publishes annually) for the past three years. Stefanie also participates annually in The Poetry Marathon, which also produces an anthology where her poetry can be read. In May of 2023, Stefanie began sharing her stories on Kindle Vella. Unfortunately, Amazon made the decision in October to discontinue this platform so she is in the process of converting those stories into print and ebooks. Two of them, "An Unfinished Story" and "Let's Do This Write!" have already transitioned. Check back often for updates on the others, hopefully available by the end of this year. A writer of many genres, Stefanie truly hopes readers will find themselves in her stories. When not scribing and attending workshops, Stefanie lives a quiet life with her husband of over forty years, Steve.
