Stephen H. Provost writes historical nonfiction and fantasy adventures. A journalist with more than 30 years of experience and a former educator, he is the author of 55 books. From 1986 to 2018, he worked as an editor, reporter, and columnist at four daily newspapers in California, including as news editor at The Fresno Bee and managing editor of The Cambrian. The author's nonfiction works include numerous historical and travel books on the nation's highways. Among these are his three-volume "America's Historic Highways" series, his five-volume "Highways of the West," two books on "California's Historic Highways," and his three-book series "Roadside Illustrated." Other nonfiction titles include "Fresno Growing Up" and "Martinsville Memories" (history and nostalgia); "The Great American Shopping Experience" (Americana), "A Whole Different League" (sports history); "The Legend of Molly Bolin" (sports biography); "Mark Twain's Nevada," "Virginia City Then & Now," and "The Comstock Chronicles (history). His survey of American middle-sized cities and small towns, the Century Cities series, includes 10 titles: "Fresno Century," "San Luis Obispo Century," "Cambria Century," "Goldfield Century," "Carson City Century," "Roanoke Century," "Greensboro Century," "Charleston Century," "Huntington Century," and "Danville Century." His works of fiction include "The Talismans of Time" and its sequel, "Pathfinder of Destiny"; the dystopian science fiction novel "Crimson Scourge"; the fantasy novels "Memortality" and its sequel, "Paralucidity"; the alternative history thriller "Meteor Ridge"; and the six-volume "Nightmare's Eve" collection of short horror stories co-authored with his wife, Sharon Marie Provost. His extensive survey of ancient history, fable and mythology is contained in his Phoenix series of books. He is the founder and publisher of Dragon Crown Books, Ltd.
