I'm a photographer living in Washington, DC. I shoot for clients like Time, The New York Times Magazine and Vanity Fair. For the past two years, I've been photographing bonsai trees every chance I get. These trees speaks to me on a visceral level and I always find myself happier and more at peace when I'm around them. The book was designed to communicate the passage of time and the fragility of time as well. I think one of the most profound feelings when standing before these trees is to think about what they’ve experienced, all the bonsai masters who have cared for these trees, who have made them their life’s work, knowing the tree would outlive them and be cared for by someone else.
