I was bitten early in school by the teaching bug. My instructors would ask me to demonstrate a technique or showcase a part of my project to new and incoming students. I found that passing on my knowledge was extremely rewarding and inevitably I would end up learning a thing or two myself. I want to remain a student, continually learning and soaking in new techniques and skills. I continued to teach after finishing school through private lessons, seminars, wood shows, magazine articles and now through my book, Veneering Essentials. I love veneering. It is an amazing way of working wood using a larger palette than is available in solid stock. I was skeptical at first when it came to veneering doubting its place in fine furniture. I chalk this up to a lack of knowledge. Once I was shown its possibilities and benefits I was hooked.
