Steve Lamar

关于作者

Growing up in a small town in Texas, Steve Lamar loved music and he loved television. “When I was a kid, I didn’t read comic books – I read the TV Guide. I loved all of the behind-the-scenes articles about shows and the business. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to work in show business.” Steve pulled up his Texas roots and moved to Los Angeles soon after his 17th birthday, and never looked back. A short time after arriving in Hollywood, Steve helped a friend move some furniture at a production office that was shutting down for the season. There he met Tom Patchett and James M. Jaffee. “I guess you could say I was at the right place at the right time. Tom and Jamie asked me if I wanted to come back the next day and help them out with some other things that needed done. I worked again that next day and kept on working with them for many years. That’s how I got my start in show business.” There were several pilots and specials those first few years. Then in 1986, Steve worked on the pilot episode of a show about a space-alien that resides with a suburban family, called “ALF.” Steve was the Associate Producer, beginning with the pilot, and produced another three seasons of the hit series. After ALF, Steve moved on to other network television series featuring stars such as Sandra Bullock, Jeremy Piven, David Schwimmer, Christina Applegate, Whoopi Goldberg and Henry Winkler. He worked with Networks and companies such as NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, Walt Disney Television, Marc Lawrence Productions, Patchett Kaufman Entertainment, and Michael Jacobs Productions. But what was still deeply instilled in Steve, since his childhood in Texas, was his desire and passion for music. So in 1996, Steve decided to make the move to Music City… Nashville, Tennessee. Steve performed at venues all around the Nashville area, most of which consisted of his own original material. He then decided to bring his two career passions together - his love of music, and his background in film and television. That combination resulted in Steve landing a job in 1999 with a very successful Nashville film production company as their staff producer. Steve produced an impressive amount of highly regarded music videos, nationally televised commercials and network promos during that time. Clients included ABC, NBC, CMT, CBS, GAC, Buena Vista Television, The Walt Disney Company, Carsey Werner Mandabach, ABC Sports, The Clorox Company, Chevy and The Recording Academy (NARAS). Steve also produced network television specials such as “Kenny Chesney: Somewhere In The Sun” and “Big & Rich – Wanted: Alive in Deadwood.” Steve also compiled an impressive list of awards and honors. He has received four GRAMMY Award nominations for Best Music Video, a CMA Music Video of the Year award and nominations, CMT Music Video Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards nominations, and numerous other television and industry nominations and honors. “After more than ten great years as a staff producer, it was time to start my own company. I was incredibly fortunate to launch Lamar Brothers with two fantastic directors, PR Brown and David Poag. I am really proud of what we have accomplished so far, and I know the best is yet to come.” A few of Lamar Brothers clients include: Live Nation, Sony Music Nashville, Big Machine Label Group, CMA, GAC, Chevy and Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. Steve is also the author of the recently released book; SAM and ME: The Week I Spent A Year With Sam Kinison. In SAM and ME, Steve tells the true story of his less-than-modest small town Texas upbringing; his escape to Hollywood at the age of seventeen, and the crazy week he spent with Sam Kinison before he became a comic legend. (Available at Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/SAMandME) Steve is a Country Music Association member, a member of the Academy of Country Music, and Voting Member for the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. He is also an accredited ASCAP songwriter. Steve is married with three young sons: Luke, Harlan and Jake. The original Lamar Brothers :)
