Steve Slocum is a peace activist and the author of highly acclaimed, Why Do They Hate Us? Making Peace with the Muslim World. His award-winning book addresses common misconceptions about Islam about issues such as Sharia law, jihad against infidels, women in Islam and wearing the hijab, and the true cause for the rise in Islamic terror. Slocum is the founder of Salaam, a nonprofit that works to bring Muslims and non-Muslims together in friendship. Slocum and his family spent five years living among the indigenous Muslim peoples of Kazakhstan as Christian missionaries, right after the breakup of the Soviet Union. This experience changed him profoundly. He is now on a mission of peacemaking between Muslims and non-Muslims of all stripes, and is passionate about bringing people together. Slocum has appeared on KTLA and CBS8 San Diego morning news shows, and has been featured in numerous radio and newspaper stories. His North America Countering Islamophobia tour has been cut short due to COVID-19. He’ll soon be announcing an online event series in order to continue sharing his peacemaking message of friendship in churches and mosques, bookstores and libraries, and other community venues.
