Steve has been many things in his life - pathology technician, folk singer, radio presenter, actor, director, teacher (for 35 years!), genealogical researcher, circus educationalist. He ran his own award winning youth circus for many years and has directed many youth circus festivals in the UK, Europe, and Brazil. He holds a PhD for his research and writing on the social and historical culture of the circus. Now he has 'reinvented' himself as a writer. He has written many articles and papers for history based magazines and journals. Many of his books explore facets of the socio-historic culture of the circus but he has also written two historical novels and one children's novella. To date he has written eleven books, with another two in progress at the moment. Steve has made many appearances on radio in the UK, Europe, and the USA and has also appeared on BBC television; all in connection with his love and knowledge of circus. He regularly gives talks and lectures on the history of the circus, both live and by Zoom. He has recently given two Zoom talks to groups in the USA. He also gave a talk at an International Circus Conference in Budapest, Hungary in January. Steve is always approachable and loves to hear from readers.
