Steve Pride is a scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and an Adjunct Professor at the University of California of Berkeley. His research focuses on a wide range of topics associated with the response of porous materials including the modeling and mechanisms of dynamic electrokinetics and electroosmosis, seismic wave attenuation and how materials break. His early academic career was spent as a professor in France both at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) and the University of Rennes. For two decades, he then taught continuum physics and the mathematical methods of physics to undergraduates at the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to his passion for understanding the underlying processes that generate various types of macroscopic response, he also runs a winery and farms 85 acres of grapes along with his wife Laurence.
