Steven R. Timmermans

Steven R. Timmermans is the emeritus executive director of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), a denomination of congregations throughout Canada and the United States with missions and development work in more than 40 countries around the world. Prior to leading the CRCNA, he served as president of Trinity Christian College in the Chicago area and in a variety of administrative and teaching roles at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Timmermans began his career in special education and pediatric psychology with a bachelor’s degree from Calvin and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Education and Psychology. He is married to Barbara Timmermans, Ph.D., a semi-retired nursing professor who has taught nursing at Calvin University and Trinity Christian College over a span of 40 years. Together, they have seven adult children (three of whom are Ethiopian), five of whom are married with spouses who are Ethiopian, Liberian, and of European descent. Their enjoyment of their seven grandchildren is without measure.
