Susan Charkes is a native of southeastern Pennsylvania where she writes about nature, outdoors, environment and sustainability. She is an Appalachian Trail maintainer with BATONA Hiking Club and a hike leader with the Appalachian Mountain Club.She works in the land conservation field.
