Susan J. Foulkes

I am a designer weaver in love with natural yarns. I am fascinated by the long history of weaving around the world. I have studied ancient textiles and the techniques used to weave them. I am very interested in band weaving techniques and have researched the woven patterned bands from around the Baltic. These intricate designs are inspirational and have led to many research trips in northern Europe. I have self published a number of books about band weaving and made over 20 YouTube videos. This led to a publishing contract with Schiffer for my book 'Weaving Patterned bands: How to create and design with 5, 7, and 9 pattern threads.' I am researching patterned bands with a larger number of pattern threads for my next book.
