From the time she was ten years old Sylvia Safran fantasized about Hollywood, sitting in darkened movie theaters with her friends entranced by the figures up on the white screen. As she grew older she continued to be fascinated with “Hollywood” and kept on top of daily gossip about her favorite stars. Her fantasies were of meeting and mingling with the elite of the giants who filled the silver screen. Her daydreams followed her into adulthood and one day she magically became one of “them”; the gossip columnists and entertainment journalists who sat face to face with the stars, lunching with them in a studio commissary, a glamourous restaurant such as The Polo Lounge and occasionally their dressing rooms. Sometimes she would even be invited to conduct an interview in a celebrity’s home.
