SYLVIE COVEY Website: www.sylviecovey.com Sylvie Covey was born in France and studied graphic arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She left France in 1976 and, while traveling around the world, studied art in Indonesia and Japan. Eventually, she immigrated to the United States, where she earned a BA from SUNY Empire State College in 1993 and an MFA from Hunter College, CUNY, in 1996. In 1980, Covey established her printmaking studio in midtown Manhattan, where she continues to pursue work in all print mediums, currently concentrating on digital and photographic printmaking techniques. She teaches printmaking and Photoshop at the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Art Students League of New York, and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey. She has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. Her work appears in numerous collections, including those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New-York Historical Society, the New York Public Library prints collection, the Museum of the City of New York, and the National Museum of Kraków, Poland, as well as several corporate collections. Sylvie Covey is the author of Photoshop for Artists: A Complete Guide for Fine Artists, Photographers, and Printmakers (2012), published by Watson-Guptill, and Modern Printmaking, a guide to traditional and digital techniques, published by Watson-Guptill/Berkeley.
